Group Beverage Manager

The Role:

This is an exciting newly created role and an amazing opportunity to join a rapidly growing, privately owned group of hospitality, catering and event management businesses based in South East London. Multi award-winning Smart Group is at the forefront of the event management industry with an enviable portfolio of companies.

The candidate will oversee beverage operations for the group, taking a leading role in the successful development and delivery of the Bar & Beverage operations through quality management of the Group's cellars. The candidate will be required to set up and maintain the standards required of cellar management delivering quality, consistency and professionalism.

About You: 

  • Previous experience in cellar management
  • Extensive knowledge of beverage stock control
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build very good rapport with suppliers and colleagues
  • Be highly organised and able to prioritize tasks
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive in approach to tasks and project work
  • Personable disposition
  • Collaborative
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the beverage held in the cellars is stored in the optimum conditions to avoid waste and spoilage
  • Accepting and checking deliveries, returning empty casks and kegs, carbon dioxide cylinders, bottles, crates and other items
  • Obtaining beverage orders from Event Managers at an agreed time prior to the event to ensure orders are placed in good time with the correct suppliers
  • Monitoring the day to day pricing of beverage supplies (via Indicater) to ensure goods are supplied within the terms of agreed contracts
  • Ensuring that all Bar and Beverage staff are trained to deliver a consistent beverage service including bar set up, use of suitable glasses, availability of bar ancillaries and beverage is served at the optimum temperature
  • As a Personal Licence Holder ensuring that all beverage at events is served and consumed responsibly and that agreed end times for beverage service are observed
