Carving her path into the event industry
After graduating from a Drama degree at the University of Exeter in 2013, Emma quickly decided that a career on (or around) the stage was not for her, and so she set her mind on getting into the events industry. She decided to utilise her hospitality and catering experience and spend 6 months working in a chalet in the French Alps, hoping a break on the slopes would allow time to carve out a path into the industry.
From the French Alps to Cambridge
Within a month of returning from her season, Emma found herself in Cambridge, working for technical production experts, Hawthorn, as a route into the event industry. Here she discovered a keen interest in Marketing and, after a year and a half, jumped on an opportunity to come and work for Smart Group and try out a different side of the industry. Emma now loves how broad her role at Smart Group is – whether she’s working on marketing for Moving Venue by Smart or Smart Christmas Parties, no day is ever the same!
Not completely abandoning the stage
Emma has just finished a Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification and is enjoying having so much free time to enjoy London life. She’s also rediscovered her love for reading and is keen to get back into Musical Theatre and singing.
