A Christmas Calling
Events must be her vocation. At the start of her career, Kim quickly earned increasing responsibility at Christmas Party provider, Best Parties Ever, overseeing the build-up for all 19 venues. This led to her running her own venue that catered up to 1,200 guests per night. Over five years she rose through the ranks from Assistant Event Manager to Senior Event Manager. Moving to catering company Tapenade, Kim oversaw the operations team for events including: The Ryder Cup, British Grand Prix, Epsom Derby and the Ideal Homes Show.
A gold medal at the Olympics
After an exciting period travelling round Australia and South East Asia, Kim joined the Smart team as Project Manager. Managing our contract at the Olympic Hospitality Centre for the 2012 Olympic Games, Kim has proved her worth alongside Smart. For the Olympic contract Kim managed operations across several major sponsor suites including BP, BT, Omega and Lloyds. Kim did such a fantastic job that she was offered a full time role at Smart as Event Manager. Since then she has managed a large range of high profile events, such as: JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, MINT Polo in the Park and Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games. Kim has also established herself as our Venue specialist Event Manager. She now works very closely with our venue partners including Tobacco Dock, Kneller Hall at Twickenham, Museum of London, Royal Horticultural Halls and the V&A Museum.
“I am a bit OCD at times”
As her experience implies, Kim loves the logistical side of the event industry as well as the variety it offers. We asked Kim what she loved most about working for Smart, to which she replied, “Apart from the gourmet lunches by our chefs in the kitchen (!), at Smart the quality and creativity of events and clients means that there is always something new and exciting around the corner – I never get bored!”
