Sir David Attenborough To Open Rare Book Fair At Battersea Evolution
Wed 16 May 2018
You've seen him on Planet Earth and Blue Planet, and on Thursday 24th May, you can see Sir David Attenborough in the flesh at the 61st ABA Rare Book Fair at our very own venue Battersea Evolution. From 24th-26th May, the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association will welcome around 2,500 guests to the Fair, which is often described as one of the largest and most prestigious antiquarian book fairs in the world.
Sir David is an honorary member of the ABA and an avid collector of rare books. The fair has been held at Olympia for the last 20 years, and will be moving to its new home in the stunning Battersea Park this summer. Sir David said of the move: "You could say that, after so many years at Olympia, the Fair has indeed evolved. Most living organisms do." He will be opening the Fair at 12pm.
The fair will showcase rare, unique and unusual items from more than 170 leading UK and international dealers. Guests will get the chance to hold history in their hands as they view and buy rare books, maps, prints, photographs, ephemera and original artwork, including medieval museum-quality manuscripts and modern day first editions such as Harry Potter.
Admission to the event is free of charge - register for tickets here. We look forward to seeing you and Sir David there!
