Our Top 10 Tips For Throwing A Fab NYE Party
Tue 22 Dec 2015
Take a look at our top tips for throwing your own New Year's Eve party at home!
KEEP IT COSY
Don’t let your guest list get out of hand. Limiting the invites to just a few close friends rather than your full Facebook friends’ list means you can enjoy the night yourself without worrying who’s going to turn upunexpectedly!
HOST LATER IN THE EVENING
By kicking things off a bit later, guests can always go for dinner before your party, and it also helps keep people going beyond midnight. Most importantly, it saves you the hassle of making dinner!
DON’T PUT ON A BANQUET
No need for an elaborate menu! If you kick things off a little later as we suggest, you only have to provide a few tasty snacks to keep your guests going into the early hours.
You’re the one offering your house and doing all the work – get everyone to bring their own drinks! You can always offer the basics like wine and beer, but if they want anything special they should bring it themselves – alcohol is expensive, after all!
ORGANISE A PLAYLIST
Use an app like Spotify that allows guests to add their own favourites to the playlist and keeps the music flowing all night.
PLAN A FEW GAMES
We’re not saying the whole evening should be organised fun, but everyone loves a good games night! Ensure you have a pack of cards at hand and a few fun games up your sleeve.
PLAN FOR MIDNIGHT
Keep an eye on the clock, and make sure you have the classic ‘Auld Lang Syne’ ready to go as you ring in the New Year. Are you going to stick the TV on or have your own countdown? Don’t let it be a flop!
ENSURE GUESTS GET HOME SAFE
Do you need to offer people a place to crash for the night if transport home is difficult or not available? If you know someone has ended up designated driver, stock the fridge with a few nice soft drinks so you're not just offering them water!
