Scarily Good Party Venues Across London
Wed 25 Oct 2017
Whether you’re looking for a fang-tastic night out this time of year or want to creep it real at one of our day events, Smart Group’s frightfully good venues in London are guaranteed to leave you mind-blown. With Halloween fast approaching, we thought we’d let you in on some seriously spooky facts about three of London’s most exciting venues: Battersea Evolution, Willows Farm and Finsbury Square. Read at your own risk!
Finsbury Square is the host of one of our highly-anticipated shared Christmas parties and this year is set to wow guests with an extravagant Venetian Masked Ball. However, what many people do not know is that Finsbury Square is also the host of one of the hundreds of plague pits scattered across London. For those unfamiliar with the term, over 15% of London’s population was wiped out between 1665 and 1666 alone, with pits dug around the city to store all the bodies. With such a rich and interesting history, an event in the heart of the beautiful Finsbury Square is guaranteed to impress your guests. The venue is also available for exclusive Christmas Parties – don’t let booking your party be the nightmare before Christmas and have a look at what we have to offer here!
Willows Farm in St Albans may be welcoming a 3.5 metre high moving skeleton during their Carnival-themed Christmas event this year but no one would expect any other scary arrivals in this quaint English Cathedral City…perhaps that’s just witchful thinking. In fact, Fishpool Street, one of the most haunted thoroughfares in St Albans, is named after a large fishpond that existed in Anglo-Saxon times and boasts numerous apparitions and ghostly figures. What’s more, legend has it that these creepy visitors are visible to travellers at night…perhaps they’re eagerly awaiting our intoxicating South American Christmas at Willows Farm? Delicious cocktails, stunning costumes and spectacular performances all summon up the unique spirit of Latin America, bringing Havana and Rio right to your doorstep. Don’t miss out on what is set to be a frightfully good night!
Finally, the infamous crash of the Big Dipper rollercoaster at Battersea Park Funfair in 1972, where 5 were killed and 13 injured, is a real-life horror story that many people are familiar with. However, what some people do not know is that Battersea is also the host of the Poltergeist Prince of London, a ghost who tormented the Hitching’s family in 1956. The spirit began to communicate with the family, initially via tapping sounds but over time even started to learn how to write. This remarkable ‘true story’ has been described as one of the most terrifying, incredible and mysterious hauntings in British history. Don’t let this scare you off - trick or treat yourself and have a look at some of the scarily good events coming up at Battersea Evolution here, including the Ski and Snowboard Show from 26th-29th October, the Battersea Coats and Collars Ball on 2nd November, and our run of Christmas parties throughout December including The 2017 London New Year's Eve Ball.
