Angela Hartnett And Smart Group Bring Cafe Murano To Royal Ascot

Our Michelin-starred Creative Director, Angela Hartnett and Smart Hospitality have teamed up to recreate the highly successful Café Murano as a pop-up at Royal Ascot 2015.

This is the first time that Café Murano has been delivered off-site, a temporary restaurant offering 150 guests the opportunity to taste Hartnett’s celebrated cuisine. Located within the prestigious Royal Enclosure Gardens, the pop-up offers a three course table d’hote menu, designed in conjunction with Smart, to both capture Hartnett’s signature style and panache but also ensure consistent delivery across the 1,500 covers during the five day event. Menu highlights include: ‘sea bream ceviche, lime, spring onion, orange’ and ‘pork belly, apple, peas, broad beans, clams’.

As a further creative touch, to add a sense of celebration to the occasion, Café Murano’s sommelier has created a Bellini menu offering playfully refreshing twists on the classic cocktail.

Commenting on the new venture, Angela Hartnett said: “It’s always great to do these events with Smart, especially when it involves bringing the Café Murano experience to a new audience; as a pop-up restaurant at one of the most prestigious sporting occasions within the summer events calendar.

“Such a project would have been impossible without Smart Group, their experience of this market, logistical expertise were invaluable to getting the pop-up from concept to actuality. Over the years we have built a strong working relationship and from our experience at Royal Ascot, I can certainly see the Café Murano pop-up working at other major sporting events.”

Our challenge was to ensure consistently faultless food for large numbers, whilst maintaining the sophisticated elegance of Café Murano and dishes which mirrored the acclaimed menus of the permanent restaurants. Following the success of Ascot, we will be looking to repeat the concept further afield, offering a slice of Michelin-starred dining to corporate hospitality bookers.”
