The Annual Friends Of Battersea BBQ

Thu 15 Jun 2017

On Tuesday 13th June 2017, Smart Group were proud to support the Friends of Battersea summer BBQ. Held within the tranquil surroundings of Battersea Park Children’s Zoo, the annual event once again provided the perfect opportunity to give back to the community of Battersea, which has been home to Smart’s centrepiece venue, Battersea Evolution, for the past thirteen years.

Before the BBQ  began, Smart Group workers were each given a specific role, with no job too big or too small. Headed up by Smart Hospitality’s Head of Operations, Kim Laley, the team set about their tasks, cooking up burgers, sausages and corn on the cob and preparing salads and tasty vegetarian options.

Thankfully the event was blessed with beautiful weather (which unfortunately was not present during last year’s event) and an equally stunning three piece salsa band who added to the guests’ excitement. Over two hundred hungry friends descended on Battersea Park Children’s Zoo to tuck into the delicious food and drink, generously donated by Battersea Evolution’s in-house caterer, Smart Hospitality.

As the night drew in, guests began to depart and we wrapped up and left the Meerkats, Otters and Wallaby’s to reclaim their surroundings. Smart Group will once again forward to working closely with the Friends of Battersea Park in the months and years ahead and sincerely thank them for their continued generosity of spirit.

The Friends of Battersea Park is a registered charity formed in 1988 to help maintain and improve the Park as an oasis of tranquillity, natural beauty and recreation. They provide a responsible group of people whom Wandsworth Council can consult as representatives of Park users; to preserve the natural and historic layout of the Park, and monitor any proposed changes.
