International Veggie Burgers To Tingle The Taste Buds

Whilst there are many variations on burgers made from different meats, veggie burgers are speedily gaining in popularity, offering a healthier, kinder and delicious alternative to their counterparts. To celebrate National Vegetable Burger day, we have listed our favourite variations from around the world to encourage you to get cooking!

Hoisin Vegan Black Bean Burger with Spicy Sesame Sauce (China)

Our first worldwide dish comes from China, offering a mouth-watering Hoisin Black Bean Burger with Spicy Sesame Sauce. As we all know, Chinese food is delicious and BBQ food is likewise. Put them together and you get this Chinese BBQ burger topped with grilled scallions and beansprouts and a spicy sesame sauce. Like the sound of that? Our other alternatives are just as tasty…

Pizza Burger (Italy)

Over in Italy the locals have combined the vegetable burger with one of their most famous meals… Pizza! These yummy Pizza Burgers are made from cannellini beans flavoured with Italian seasoning and topped with tomato sauce and cashew cream. Sit the pizza burger atop a round of polenta to guarantee the full Italian experience.

Edamame Burger with Cilantro Wasabi Aioli (Japan)

If you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine, we’re sure you will love their Edamame Burger with Cilantro Wasabi Aioli. This green burger is made from fresh edamame and Asian veggies and is served with a homemade, spicy aioli made from cashews, silken tofu, cilantro and Wasabi paste , bringing an added spice to the national day.

 

Kimchi BBQ Burger (Korea)

To continue the oriental tastes, why not try a simple Korean Kimchi BBQ Burger. They combine “beefy” veggie burgers with sweet Korean BBQ sauce and spicy kimchi for a spectacular taste explosion in your mouth.

Bean Burger with Avocado Fries (Mexico)

On the other side of the world, another worldwide veggie favourite is the Mexican Bean Burger with Avocado Fries. These burgers are made from kidney beans, sweetcorn and veggies and are flavoured with Mexican spices such as cumin, chili powder and smoked paprika. On the side are crispy and creamy baked avocado fries for a meal worth celebrating.

Chickpea Burger Patty (Middle East)

We’re off to the Middle East, where the Vegan Chickpea Burger Patty awaits us. Chickpeas, shallots, tahini and spices come together to make a deliciously crispy veggie burger. Serve them in pitas with homemade vegan yogurt sauce  spiced with curry and cayenne for a wave of flavour.

 

Spiced Lentil Butternut Squash Burger (Morocco)

Over in Morocco, the go-to meal is the exotic Moroccan Spiced Lentil Butternut Squash Burgers. Lentils and butternut squash are flavoured with the aromatic spices of cumin and cinnamon to create burgers that are as beautiful as they are delicious.

Quinoa Burger (Thailand)

Our final stop around the world brings us to Thailand and gives us these delicious Thai Quinoa Burgers that are packed with flavour. We’re talking cilantro, red curry paste, soy sauce and red chili paste with snow peas, chickpeas and healthy quinoa. It all gets topped with sprouted mung beans for a sensational burger. Yum!
