A Review of 2018 So Far
There’s a reason Battersea Evolution is often referred to as London’s most versatile venue – in the last year we’ve hosted a whole range of events. For the first time ever the ABA Book Fair in May which opened with a speech by Sir David Attenborough, the Waitrose Supplier Gala Dinner which has been held at the venue since 2012, and the Sport Industry Awards in April which returned for its tenth year and hosted celebrities and sporting heroes from around the globe. Now that the venue has been taken down for the summer until September, we wanted to share a few of our highlights from the year so far:
The second annual end-of-year party for guests in the hospitality industry took place in January. The event took on the Après Christmas theme used throughout the Christmas period, adding a vodka luge, step-and-repeat wall, the karaoke phenomenon Rockaoke, and much more. The cherry on the Christmas cake was that the event also raised £14, 656 for industry charities! See our event case study here.
This awards ceremony and dinner returned to Battersea last month for its eighth year. The event honoured the very best talent the advertising industry has to offer, and featured a drinks reception on the mezzanine followed by a slightly unconventional three-course meal while guests watched the awards – each table was served sharing boards of mixed tapas for their starter before a decadent main course, and dessert stations and cheese stations were set up on the mezzanine during the after-party. Check out our case study here.
L'Oreal held their awards dinner and after-party at Battersea Evolution in June, at which 1,200 guests enjoyed a drinks reception and three-course dinner expertly delivered by Smart Hospitality. The main space within the venue saw an impressive transformation into a large circular space with the use of drapes, and a rounded stage sat in the centre of the room with 3 catwalks leading from the stage to the edges of the room. Incredibly high-end production and entertainment punctuated the evening, which culminated in an after-party complete with DJ.
For an evening in March, the venue was packed with 1,300 attendees to celebrate the success of the PubCo industry. There were almost 20 different bars dotted around the venue from different brands, including Heineken, Fever-Tree and Bacardi. Each bar was highly interactive, including a WKD Ping-Pong table, a Gordon’s rose flower wall (perfect for selfies) and a Sky Sports virtual cricket game. To top off the night, Jameson bikes were ready and waiting to take guests to Chelsea Bridge Gate to help them on their way home.
What do we have to look forward to?
On 5th September 2018, Battersea Evolution will re-open its doors to RM Sotheby’s, the annual auction of collector cars. From then on there’s lots to look forward to, including our new Christmas theme Around the World in 80 Days and the Ski and Snowboard Show in October, which will return for the fourth year to Battersea Evolution and feature live demos on the slope, activities for kids, an ice rink, and plenty of food and drink. We’re particularly looking forward to the below events:
Rugby Captains Dinner 2018
Last year this spectacular dinner was held at Landing Forty Two, but will return this year to Battersea Evolution to celebrate the 15th anniversary of England’s historic 2003 Rugby World Cup win. The evening will include hosted Q&A sessions with leading personalities of the 2003 Rugby World Cup, including Sir Clive Woodward, Lawrence Dallaglio, George Gregan, plus many more stars of the 2003 World Cup. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment, delicious catering from Smart by Angela Hartnett and a spectacular live auction with once in a lifetime opportunities. If you’re as excited for this event as we are, find out more here!
Around the World in 80 Days
Each year we introduce a new Christmas theme to the venue, which runs from November to January. As ever, guests can expect exceptional hospitality, stunning pan-global theming and exhilarating entertainment. Battersea Evolution will take you from ancient Egypt via the souks of Marrakech and ornate temples of Japan, to the snowy hills of Kathmandu. Expect hot air balloons in a myriad of colours, a giant igloo bar, and origami cranes. We can’t wait to see the venue completely transformed into the perfect, decadent Christmas party! The London New Year’s Eve Ball
Featuring all of the above and more, we’re excited to once against host our incredible New Year’s Eve dinner, which in 2017 was a sell-out. Tickets include a sparkling wine and canapé reception, four-course dinner, unlimited drinks all night and a live stream of London’s world-famous fireworks at midnight.
