Battersea Evolution Re-Brands & Re-Opens In Style!
Wed 21 Sep 2016
After the long hot summer, Battersea Evolution has been re-built, re-branded and re-opened for business. Launched in 2001, Battersea Evolution has an enviable reputation as one of the capital’s most versatile and dynamic venues, offering a prime central London event space in the scenic setting of Battersea Park. To mark the occasion, Smart Group hosted a spectacular showcase for the cream of the events and hospitality industry to celebrate the venue’s re-launch and highlight its versatility, catering offering and unrivalled capabilities.
Over three hundred guests from across the events, hospitality, sport, financial, media and entertainment sectors descended on Battersea Evolution (Monday, 19th September 2016) for a night of networking and autumnal indulgence. Guests were treated to a champagne reception on the mezzanine with an assortment of canapes served from a dedicated oyster bar, pasta bar, bruschetta bar and a BBQ station. Event partner Hawthorn showcased their virtual reality experience, which placed guests at the core of the venue in a way never before been seen.
Guests then gathered to watch the reveal of the venue’s dramatic space, where a dramatic Kabuki Drop exposed two stunningly decorated and opulent dining tables running down the centre of the venue. The autumnal flowers and table decorations were provided by the brilliant InWater Flowers. Battersea Evolution’s award winning in-house caterers Smart Hospitality produced a sumptuous three course dinner, consisting of a lobster and crab salad as a starter, followed by fillet of treacle beef, with sticky short rib bonbon, truffled mushroom salad, bone marrow dressing and chive cream for the main course.
Between courses, Stephen Lawrence, Battersea Evolution’s Managing Director and Smart Group’s Business Development Director Richard Groves addressed guests with a rousing welcome speech from the purpose built stage. The stage was also used to wow guests with entertainment, consisting of choreographed dancers and electro violinists. Guests then meandered their way back to the mezzanine for dessert, where they were treated to culinary curiosities consisting of a powder room with edible lipsticks, compacts, soaps and sponges. Also on offer was a Japanese bar with sweet sushi, sashimi and a miso melon soup, and a chocolate filled edible garden. The popularity of the dessert options was testament to Smart Hospitality’s creative talent and ability.
Stephen Lawrence, Managing Director of Battersea Evolution, said: “Battersea Evolution is an outstanding and unique venue with incredible capabilities. The variety of high profile events we host is testament to the venue’s ability to deliver world-class events for clients at a competitive rate. As a result, Battersea Evolution has been shortlisted for Best Event Venue for over 600 delegates at The London Venue Awards, an accolade which is very well deserved”.
Fresh from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Battersea Evolution will be host venue for Team GB at their annual fundraiser on 30th November. The venue will also host a series of spectacular themed Christmas parties, managed by Smart Christmas Parties. The theme this year is Carnivale, a heady mix of exotic flavours from Brazil to Bolivia that will be a celebration of Mardis Gras, flamboyant costumes and exotic food.
Battersea Evolution has a total footprint of 5,650m² split into four main areas; a 450m² glass fronted atrium, a 3,750m² main arena, a 700m² mezzanine level and 750m² "back of house" area that can also be used as event space. The venue offers clients a capacity for up to 4000 in conference and 2000 for dinner. With upgraded fibre optic internet capabilities, offering 100Mbps of superfast wireless connectivity across the venue, Battersea Evolution is a truly state-of-the-art venue with endless possibilities.
