We’re associated with a lot of amazing venues here at Smart Group but we’re particularly proud to be the official event management and catering partner for Here East, a unique and innovative venue in the heart of East London.

This new and creative space is a versatile and truly individual venue for all kinds of occasions, so we thought we’d give you a little tour around and let you know everything there is to know about Here East.

The Details

Before we get into the logistics and capabilities of this venue, allow us to give you a little rundown on some of the ‘need to know’ details about Here East.

This venue is situated in the centre of East London in the well-loved Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park area, and is able to hold up to 1,000 guests thanks to the multiple large function spaces within the building.

The transport links to Here East are one of the contributing factors as to why this venue is in such high demand with people looking to host events in this area. Easily accessible from Stratford International and Hackney Wick train stations, Stratford International tube station and three different bus routes, it couldn’t be any simpler to make your way to this venue.

If you’re heading to an evening event and want to arrange accommodation till the next morning you’re in luck, as within a stone’s throw from the doors of Here East is a selection of London’s top hotels such as The Westbridge, Staybridge Suites and Canary Wharf Hilton.

The Logistics

Now you’ve got your bearings as to where Here East is located and how to get there, allow us to give you a closer look inside the venue.

With an overall capacity of 1,000 and a dining capacity of 800, Here East truly is open and ready to host all kinds of events. Split into three main function areas, the First Floor Reception area can hold 1,000 guests and has a 2,358m² floor area with 4 passenger lifts and a goods lift, making this area highly accessible.

The Theatre has a 1,276m² floor area and is 29m wide by 44m long, a perfect area for more intimate events.

The Outdoor Terrace is a real treat and ideal for use during summer occasions. This area is 30m wide and 10m deep with views across the city of London and particularly Canary Wharf.

The Team Inside

We’re proud to be the event management team for Here East and it’s also a delight to bring along the Smart Hospitality catering team to be the official catering partners for the venue; but we don’t work alone to keep this venue working like clockwork for every event.

We’ve built up a long-term working relationship with Hawthorn and now they’re our ‘go to’ company for venue production, so it only felt right to enlist them to help us make Here East the highly sought after London events venue that it now is. Responsible for lighting, sound and generally bringing the space to life, Hawthorn offer a variety of services for each event and their packages are designed to suit every occasion.

We’ve also enlisted the help of Optimity, one of the city’s best WiFi providers, to ensure you can remain connected for the duration of your time at Here East. Complimentary public WiFi is available for every guest that steps through the doors and when you host an event at Here East, all you need to do is ask your account manager to get you connected.

The Events

Now you’re familiar with the venue itself, it’s time to turn your attention towards the events that take place inside and give you an insight into the kind of occasions this venue is capable of hosting.


Thanks to being a versatile open space with room for 1,000, Here East is a popular choice for conferences. Both the First Floor Reception area and Theatre can be used for conferences, and our team can transform the spaces to work with the vision you as the organiser have in mind.

Whether you want a main stage with seating in front or you want to split the room into separate zones for different activities, this is all possible at Here East. The OFFF London creativity festival was hosted here in September 2017 and was a superb event of food, entertainment and industry professional speakers.

Awards Ceremonies and Dinners

With room for 800 diners, Here East is a reliable choice for hosting an awards ceremony or dinner of any kind.

Smart Hospitality can create a menu to meet your exact specification, combining canapés, main meals and incredible sweet treats, ideal for giving your guests the wow factor. If you’re looking to combine dinner with entertainment or live speakers, the main stage in The Theatre is ideal for this.

The Europas 2017 conference and awards ceremony took place at Here East and welcomed 550 guests for great entertainment, inspirational speakers and a delicious seated lunch.
