The British Arrows 2017 At Battersea Evolution
Thu 25 May 2017
On Wednesday 24th May 2017, Battersea Evolution were once again thrilled to welcome The British Arrows. The prestigious awards evening takes place annually, honouring the very best talent the advertising industry has to offer.
After 40 years as the most respected and coveted of British advertising awards, this was the first awards evening where The British Arrows combined their Craft and Awards shows into one. Over 1,000 guests were in attendance for the sold out event which included three separate areas, providing an evolving guest journey throughout the evening.
Following an arrival reception on Battersea Evolution’s mezzanine, guests made their way through into the ceremony room. Once seated, guests were treated to a fabulous tasting board, including Tuscan olives, gruyère and onion focaccia, and pressed ham hock and piccalilli.
Three tremendous mains then followed, including: Slow cooked shoulder of lamb shredded with ancient grains, served with Greek yoghurt and pomegranate; Hot roast salmon with pistachio crust and a summer salad of peas, leeks and beans; and finally a Butternut, red pepper and sweet potato curry with crisp kohlrabi for the vegetarian option, all served with bowls of buttered Jersey Royals and tenderstem broccoli.
To mark the special event, beautifully crafted Golden Chocolate Arrows were served after dinner alongside a Cheeseboard, and guests were then presented with tasty cake pops when leaving the event at the end of the night.
Rob Delaney was fantastic in presenting the first combined show, bringing compelling wit and humour to the evening’s dealings.
There were a total of 106 arrows awarded on the night - 38 Golds, 36 Silvers and 32 Bronzes. Some of the night's big winners wincluded Channel 4 by 4creative, who won Commercial of the Year for the ‘We’re the Superhumans’ campaign. Agency of the Year was awarded to adam&eveDDB, with Production Company of the Year being awarded to Blink.
Since 1976, The British Arrows (formally known as the British Television Advertising Awards) have celebrated the very best film and talent that the British ad industry has to offer, with the Craft awards acknowledging the invaluable contribution of the often unsung heroes of production.
Earlier this year, British Arrows announced that their new event would act as a celebration of the best work the entire industry has to offer, since any great piece of work is a magical combination of idea and craft. This unique and carefully crafted British awards show honoured the industry’s elite across 27 streamlined Campaigns categories and 24 Craft categories.
