We've found some cool new hotels opening this year around Europe that we can't wait to go and visit. They range from a renovated bank in Malta to a former Grade-II Baptist Church in the City. Have a look at 10 of our favourites, who we think have really stepped up the hotel game this year!

Lutetia, Paris

Hotel Lutetia, the iconic Parisian landmark located in the electric St Germain-des-Prés, is set to reopen in Spring 2018. This modern, grand hotel originally opened in 1910 and is now the only grand hotel on the left bank. We love a hotel with a view, which is why we’re particularly excited about this one; 5 of their 184 rooms and suites will boast an unrivalled 360-degree view of Paris. After a four year refurb, some of our favourite new features of the hotel are the Akasha spa, jazz bar, a cigar bar and the Lutetia Brasserie.

Opening Spring 2018

White City House, London

For those who love rooftop pools, electric cinemas and Blue Peter, this hotel from The Soho House group is perfect for you. White City House is located in the former BBC Television Centre in W12, where the infamous Blue Peter and Doctor Who were made. The hotel will offer 45 rooms, and three floors of club space and a cinema.

Opening Spring 2018

The Fife Arms, Scotland

This first-class hotel can be found deep in the stunning Cairngorms National Park and is set to offer 46 bedrooms and a restaurant serving local Scottish produce. Guests can also expect to see world-class art dotted around the hotel, a cocktail bar, a spa and a delightful courtyard with a heather roof. The creators’ passion for art and design will be mixed with the history and heritage of the building, making for some quite unique décor.

Opening Summer 2018

University Arms, Cambridge

This historic hotel was previously built in 1834 and will cost over £80m to redevelop. It will offer 192 newly refurbished rooms and suites, and the interiors and set to reflect the area’s quintessentially English character and the literary and academic spirit of Cambridge. Its summer opening will be the perfect time to grab a packed picnic and relax on the grass lawn of nearby Parker’s Piece. Or if the typical British weather lets you down, enjoy one of their fine Sunday lunches served from the roast-beef trolley in their restaurant.

Opening Summer 2018

Iniala Harbour House, Malta

This hotel must tell many stories, being made up of two townhouses, a former bank and several vaults that once stored dynamite. Located on St. Barbara Bastion in the historic centre of Valletta, the hotel will have 24 rooms which will be found across the four grand palazzos. It will also have a subterranean gym and spa, located in the vaults. That’s not all – guests will also be able to dine at their rooftop restaurant offering beautiful views of Malta.

Opening end of the year

L’Oscar, London

This Grade-II former Baptist Church HQ in Holborn will offer 39 bedrooms lavishly decorated with deep purples, rich reds and burnished golds. This sinful-looking 110-year-old building will also have embossed purple leather walls, high ceilings, large windows and a wealth of original detail. The hotel will also house a bar, restaurant, a café and conference facilities.

Opening Spring 2018

Artist Residence, Bristol

At this former Grade-I listed, derelict boot factory in Stokes Croft (an area often referred to as ‘Bristol’s cultural quarter’), you will find a 27-bed boutique hotel with a restaurant and bar. The 19th century building is being drastically refurbished, but will still retain its original architectural features.

Opening November 2018

New Road Hotel, Whitechapel

This rather wonderful hotel, which was the project of 3 brothers, is on the site of an old textile factory where their father used to work. 80 rooms in total offer exposed brickwork and open lobby spaces flooded with light. Loft rooms in the hotel have their very own private terrace and hot tubs overlooking the fantastic views of London’s impressive skyline. The hotel is also impressively fronted by Marco Pierre White’s restaurant, Chophouse.

Opened this month

Fingal Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh

This luxury floating hotel offers 23 plush balconied rooms and duplex apartments with swish geometric design decorations similar to that of the Roaring Twenties. An impressive presidential suite will run the full length of the first floor and will boast its very own private veranda.

Opening Spring 2018

Vintry & Mercer, London

We’re particularly intrigued in the décor for this new hotel in central London; expect velvet curtains, leather door handles, palm leaf wall coverings and historic navigation maps. There will be 92 rooms and suites, as well as a secret cocktail bar hidden beneath the hotel, reminiscent of a New York speakeasy. This hotel would certainly make for an interesting visit!
