This year, Evolution London played host to Wandsworth’s Big Play Out in collaboration with Enable, the Battersea Summer Scheme and Wandsworth Council. The summer scheme is part of the council’s work to ensure young people and families get the support they need during the Cost of Living crisis, and the school holidays when many families face financial difficulty and a lack of opportunity to participate in activities. 

Designed for 5 to 16-year-olds, the week-long event was hosted at our flagship venue, Evolution London, and offered a variety of engaging activities so there was something for everyone to get stuck into. Over the course of the week, we welcomed 6,661 people through the doors. 

Smart Live assisted in the planning of the event and the organisation of the activities, which included dance classes, music workshops, exercise classes, sports activities, a reading corner, movie sessions, food education workshops, table tennis, giant inflatables, art classes, soft play, games, crafting and the children could even try their hand at being a radio presenter! 

On top of these activities, the children and their families all received free lunches, donated by Moving Venue, who ensured something was on offer for all dietary requirements, including a selection of burgers, cakes, and a pizza-making station, which all went down a treat! 

Besides our teams who were directly involved in the organisation and management of the event, many members from other Smart Group divisions also took time out of their day jobs to assist in manning the Nerf gun stands or recruiting for street dance classes, just to name a few of the activities we got involved in! We all had so much fun helping out at this fantastic event, and look forward to collaborating with all of those involved again in the future.
