This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Moving Venue sales team, playing a crucial role in account managing our esteemed portfolio of venues within the London event catering market.

THE ROLE

As London’s most experienced event caterers, Moving Venue is commemorating its 40th anniversary this year. With accreditation at over 40 venues in London, we cater to more than 400 events annually. The scale and variety of these events demonstrate our expertise in handling challenging projects while consistently pushing the boundaries of what is achievable.

The Event Sales Manager holds the responsibility of managing essential relationships with the Events Teams at these venues. It is imperative that we uphold our profile and preferred caterer status, facilitating the opportunity to present proposals for event enquiries received at these venues. These enquiries must be managed with skill and an ability to stand out in a competitive market. Each venue has its own annual revenue target, necessitating a tailor-made sales and marketing plan developed by the Event Sales Manager in collaboration with the Head of Sales and wider team.

 

Proactively, the Event Sales Manager must also possess a working knowledge of venues where we are not accredited. We embrace opportunities to expand and enhance our portfolio, and the existing relationships held by the Event Sales Manager will be instrumental. Our ongoing objective is for all Unique Venues in London to be aware of Moving Venue’s experience, passion, and talent, and to be ready to tender whenever an opportunity arises.

The Event Sales Manager’s role is to ensure that relationships with clients are developed and maintained. These clients include venues, corporate buyers, and event agencies. These relationships will result in high-quality, profitable events and the achievement of targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Maintaining a venue portfolio as assigned and ensuring that event sales revenue generated from these venues meets targets.
  • Increasing sales within the existing productive venues and nurturing business at developing venues to ensure they become productive as well.
  • Developing and increasing business in the private and wedding markets.
  • Establishing clients’ needs (end user, agent, or venue) and presenting effective event solutions.
  • Employing the appropriate resources to elevate our company above competitors (site visits, menu tastings, event out-mess, etc.).
  • Maximising the conversion of enquiries to confirmed business from new clients and venue referrals.
  • Identifying areas where Moving Venue can create new product ideas and creativity.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Moving Venue’s product and communicating this to clients and the venue.
  • Possessing a working knowledge of planning and operating the catering of events in venues across London.
  • Attending events held within your venue portfolio, acting as a point of contact and familiarity for both client and (Note: We have a team of event planners who act as the point of contact from event confirmation to event completion, you will be attending in an account management capacity rather than event delivery).
  • Producing presentations, reports, statistics, and information on performance as required.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

  • Representing Moving Venue in the most positive way both internally and externally.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of our venues, clients, competitors, markets, and the industry, and an awareness of the impact of any developments in these areas.
  • Complying with the requirements of MV’s Health & Safety/Food Safety policy and procedures and observing safe working practices both at the base and at events.
  • Performing any other reasonable duties required in pursuit of the efficient and profitable management of the company.

  • A keen appreciation of the commercial aspect of your role, where margin, value & the ongoing strengthening of the bottom line are paramount.
  • Strong sense of ownership and appropriation.
  • Excellent computer and CRM skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading, and speaking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to complete event projects with little supervision.
  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
  • Experience designing events and coming up with creative ideas.
  • You are able to commit to a flexible work pattern occasionally undertaking weekend work.
